Weblish goes widescreen 16:9 for internet videos

Weblish will be changing it's format from it's 4:3 videographic aspect ratio to 16:9 widescreen, the standard for high-definition (HD). Pixel size: 4:3   = 640 × 480 16:9 = 720 x 480 The first iPod in 2006 was best viewed in 4:3 but since HD video and online streaming sites have switched to a wider format, Weblish will conform to the changing nature of video. Today, many people still use computer monitors with a 4:3 aspect ratio but the vast majority of new monitors are wide screen. Mobile devices are best in a 16:9 ratio. The 16:9 format will allow more space for computer graphics as well as a higher quality. Starting in February 2012, Weblish plans to release all videos in 720p and use 1080p by 2013. Due to the amount of data and layers involved in video editing and rendering, it takes too much time to create videos in full HD, and since the vast majority of users watch our videos on mobile devices with smaller screen, 720p should be adequate for online streaming and viewing on portable devices. As the technology to edit video evolves and more power becomes available to independent video producers, the quality of our shows will also improve. Thank you very much for your continued support of our shows since 2006!
